No.12 Henrietta Street

The lovely Aoife was part of The Drawing Room exhibition at No.12 Henrietta Street. The exhibition consisted of contemporary artworks including photography, architecture, ceramics, drawing, painting, illustration and installation. The aim of The Drawing Room was to gain public awareness of the beautiful Georgian houses and buildings scattered around Dublin by creating a series of music and art events in these alternative settings. Aoife’s work in the exhibition is part of her own practice, Ruby-Sky photography.  Her work investigates the contrast of feminine figures against the strong architecture of the North Georgian Quarter. Aoife has created images which conjure up wonder and perplexity from the viewer. Very little about the figure in the photograph is revealed leaving it to the viewer to make the connection between person, place, and space. In the same space there was a series of contrasting images by Janet Williams of Blackbird Boulevard photography.  Amused, inspired and perplexed by the scenes she sees daily whilst walking through Dublin city center, Janet’s work aimed to offer up a scene per photo which comes with little to no explanation. Taking inspiration from the work of Gregory Crewdson and David Lynch;  sometimes different is a lot more familiar than we think.

Penneys sale rail 2

This week I snook off to Penneys on my own and picked up this cream lace dress for Louise to wear. It had a really pretty bow at the back and was a bargain at only €7 reduced from €16! It was a beautiful (rare) sunny day in Dublin so we took advantage of the weather and went to the War Memorial Gardens. The park is stunning and we were spoilt with both the location and weather. Penneys Sale Rail 1

Who doesn't love Penneys!? We all know the clothes are cheap...but the sale rail is even cheaper! We decided to challenge ourselves to a weekly photoshoot using items purchased in the sale. Today we picked up two items from the sale rail, a black lace top reduced from €7 to €4, and a striped crop top reduced from €4 to €1. We shot this shoot in Pimlico and weren't short of a few glances while we were out! Aoife xxx
